Hello,
and welcome to my web site. My name is Mike Shaw and I am currently a senior
at Arizona State University studying in the College of Letters and Sciences. Along
with being a senior in college I have also had the fortunate experience of working full-time during my four years in college
as a manger in Anheuser-Busch’s marketing department here in Phoenix.
Originally,
I am from Boston, Massachusetts. Born into a family of four, I grew up in a very
tight-nit neighborhood and as soon as I could walk I was passionate about sports. I
was an avid athlete, competing in as many as six different competitive sports each year until I reached high-school. It was in my third year of Belmont High School when I was elected a tri-captain for
the sports of Soccer, Hockey, and Baseball, an honor and accolade that I would have for the following year as well.
After
being named to the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Hockey team my senior year I decided to pursue this as my future. I went on after graduation to play two years of semi-professional Junior A hockey in cities as close as
my hometown to as far away as Vancouver. The opportunity to travel and experience
the country through hockey gave me the ability to truly become the person that I am today.
Being exposed to other people and cultures is the most exciting experience any young man can have.
I
took my shot at hockey and went to college in New York to play on a scholarship. After
my third shoulder surgery (lots of fun!!!) I decided it was time to move on from the game I love and expand my learning journey. That is when I came to Arizona and have been fortunate enough to pursue my goals and
aspirations each and everyday since arriving. While managing both school and
a full-time job has been a sincere headache at times I would not change a minute of my experience over the past four years. I have come to know and love the city of Phoenix and the state of Arizona, embracing
each moment of my experience to the fullest.
Anyway,
enough about me, please enjoy the following web page as it will give some insight into who I am academically and personally.
